Lytone × LytoFresh® Stone Fruit Research
California Post-Harvest Cold Storage Trial
Significant Firmness Retention in California Stone Fruit with LytoFresh® 1-MCP Stickers
A California trial evaluated 1-MCP molecule stickers across 52 stone fruit varieties under commercial cold storage conditions.
LytoFresh® AnsiP® technology slows down fruit softening, maintains overall vitality, and protects post-harvest value without affecting fruit weight.
Trial Overview
Year / Location
2026 / California, USA
Sample Scope
52 distinct stone fruit samples (Peaches, Plums, Nectarines - red & white flesh)
Storage Environment
2-Week Duration at 33–34°F Cold Storage
Treatment Comparison
LytoFresh 1-MCP Molecule Stickers vs. Untreated Control
Evaluation Protocol
Standard PSI Pressure Testing & Fruit Weight Tracking
Key Performance Indicator
Firmness Retention & Zero Decay (0% Decay Observed)
Trial Executed by: Lytone Enterprise Inc. Technical Team (Selma, California Office).
Field-Validated Post-Harvest Performance
Evaluating 52 California Stone Fruit Varieties Under Commercial Cold Storage
1-MCP treated fruits were systematically compared against untreated controls over a 2-week cold storage evaluation at 33–34°F.
Finding 1 · Firmness Retention
Significantly Lower Firmness Loss in Treated Produce
Pressure test readings (PSI) showed that treated fruit generally experienced less firmness loss after 2 weeks than untreated controls, delaying softening and holding overall vitality throughout storage.
Treated Fruit: Reduced PSI Loss & High Vitality
Untreated Control: Rapid Softening & Steep PSI Decrease
Finding 2 · Variety & Seasonal Timing
Early-Season Varieties Derived Maximum Preservation Benefits
Analysis across harvesting windows revealed that early-season fruit harvested between June and mid-July showed the highest firmness protection benefits from the 1-MCP sticker application.
Early Harvest (June – Mid-July)
Highest Impact
Significant preservation advantage observed for early market shipments.
Plum Variety Performance
Increased Firmness
Certain plum varieties exhibited a measurable increase in firmness during evaluation.
Finding 3 · Moisture & Decay Integrity
Zero Decay Observed with No Adverse Impact on Fruit Weight
0% Decay
Comparing starting and ending weights confirmed that 1-MCP sticker application caused no negative effect on moisture retention or water weight loss across all 52 stone fruit varieties.
Research Disclaimer: The results presented on this page reflect the conditions of this specific California post-harvest trial. Results may vary according to stone fruit variety, orchard maturity, climate, cold chain storage practices, and application method. Future trials recommend evaluating smaller sample sizes over extended durations of 6 to 8 weeks.
